Gomma Podcast #82:
Manuel Kim X-Ray Mix
Monthly Archives: September 2011
A Guy Called Gerald – Voodoo Ray (Manuel Kim Edit)
Originally released on Rham 1988. Another beloved track that is considered an anthem in its own right and one of the most well-known early acid house tracks. Created by Gerald Simpson after his falling out with his music group 808 State (in whose legendary track “Pacific State” he also played a big part in), this was quickly picked up by radio stations and played in the Hacienda, later even landing him a #12 UK single chart position.
Turntable Orchestra – You’re Gonna Miss Me (Manuel Kim Edit)
Originally released on Republic Records 1988. What can I say, this is a great house jam that I love to play out, but as usual I prefer it without the vocals!

Lil Louis – I Called U (Manuel Kim Long Distance Edit)
Originally released on FFRR 1989. This is the one: The 12 minute monster edit that took 5 different mixes from 3 vinyl versions to create. Mainly inspired by a live version of Larry Levan’s, who took different mixes to extend the runtime of this great track.
